If you've been to Creature Comforts you've probably seen our staff members hurrying back and forth from the house next door. And if you've been near the house, you've probably heard quite a racket. What the heck is going on over there? Why, it's the future you hear!
That's no ordinary house, it's the Creature Comforts Annex building, and it's currently undergoing major rennovations. What started as a normal dwelling is being systematically gutted, refurbished and redesigned into valuable clinic work space. From the outside it still may look like a house, but once you take a step inside you'll see a whole other side of the Creature Comfort world.

One of the latest changes--and a good example of what's going on--is the room you see in the pictures above. What started out as a small bedroom was gutted, expanded, and transformed into our newest labratory. It now houses our state of the art blood laboratory, giving us the ability to run in-house blood tests that nearly all other clinics must send out to specialized labs. As you can see from the picture, it takes a lot of work to make this happen.

There's a whole lot of work going on, and as we grow and expand, our needs change, so our plans change with them. Our full-time construction and maintenance crew is working non-stop to help us meet our changing goals.
Currently we are constructing a new main office on the second floor, as well as several other offices for our doctors and staff. We need plenty of filing and storage space, so rooms for these purposes are also in the works. The entire building is being wired into our computer network, so we will have access to all our patient and client information from anywhere in the building, and our security systems are getting an upgrade as well.
We have torn out the old bathrooms on the second floor and are redesigning them, and the electrical system in the entire house is being replaced and upgraded.
The third floor is being completely gutted and redesigned into a mini-apartment--complete with a new bathroom--for those late nights when our emergency doctors need a place to nap while administering all night treatments. The apartment area will also give our interns a home away from home while they are with us.

There are new stairways to construct, and heating and air conditioning systems to be upgraded, and an endless list of final touches to be made before we can start expanding into these new spaces.
But once we are finished, our Annex will be as much a part of the main clinic as our exam rooms and surgery suite. It's an enormous undertaking, but we've got an excellent crew to do the job!

Once the Annex building is completed, we've got plans to expand the current clinic building. The clinic itself was originally a post office building, and suited us perfectly when we started the clinic, but now that we have grown by leaps and bounds we need more space to keep getting bigger and better! We've already laid the support foundations to extend and enclose our outdoor kennel runs, and we'd really like to add a second floor addition above and behind our current building.
Who knows exactly what the future holds, but Creature Comforts will be ready to adapt to it and change to fit every need that our clients may have!
